Man Arrested in Connection With Pipe Bombs Sent to Trump Critics
As of 11:40 Eastern Time, this is all that is known:
Federal authorities made an arrest on Friday in connection with the nationwide bombing campaign against outspoken critics of President Trump, a significant breakthrough in a case that has gripped the country in the days leading up to the midterm elections.
It was not immediately clear who had been taken into custody, but a man was arrested in Florida, three law-enforcement officials said. One of them said the man was in his 50s.
This is is one telling fact that was released prior to a news conference now scheduled for 2:30 PM
Florida news organizations reported that law enforcement officers had surrounded a white van with Trump stickers on it.
Yesterday, I happened to have caught segments of Rush Limbaugh’s and Hannity’s radio programs when I was driving. Both had made the case that the pipe devices (still undefined as capable of exploding) were sent as a “false flag” operation devised by Trump opponents to foment more hatred against him.
.
They didn’t claim this to be a possibility, but a fact. And of course Trump has incoherently blamed this broad-based spreading of fear on the media that he has criticized, even though only one of the bombs went to such an entity.
.
It will be interesting to find out how these two media icons of the right will spin the discovery that the bombs where sent by the most rabid of Trump supporters, complete with Trump signs plastered on his vehicle.
.
It will be interesting, but absolutely certain that they will make the attempt to do so.
